A Moment of Wellness and Giving Back with Chado Tea Room’s New Tumeric Tea Blends

In this Covid19 reality, one of my favorite tea houses, Chado Tea Room, created a special blend of turmeric teas to help us with a much-needed immunity boost. Not only did they create these special blends that are available online and in-person at their Torrance and Pasadena locations but they are giving back as well.

It’s important to find ways to care for our medical community and essential workers serving on the frontlines. With caseloads reaching their peaks and hospital beds in short supply, supporting medical workers is more crucial than ever. That’s why Chado Tea is donating a portion of all profits (online and in-store at Pasadena + Torrance tea rooms) from 4/20-4/25 to Off Their Plate a non profit

Does Maternal Health Matter? Moms In The Industry Recognizes Black Maternal Health Week!

Yes, it matters. It is the simplest response that I never thought I would have to make in regard to this. As a relatively new mom, I never recognized discrimination when it came to me being a parent. Meaning, I never had my race be an issue when it came to my children or me being a mom. That is until I had my son this past March. Sometimes in the health care community when you are a mom your voice is not heard. That is even more so prevalent in underprivileged communities as well as predominantly Black and Brown communities.

Honestly, I am not one who is racially charged in situations. I notice it in the entertainment business as a whole and in police brutality but I never became sensitive to other’s reactions to my race, until recently.

Noticing the Rainbow Amidst the Rain

Crew it has been a while since I have touched based with you. Trust me it has been an eventful couple of weeks for me as it has for all of you I'm sure. My oh my when we picked this month's mantra of "FEARLESS" we surely didn't know how fearless we would have to be. I wanted to talk to you about the importance of a baby moon, but after an unplanned sequence of events this topic seems so much more fitting for the moment.

My Truth: Living with the pain of losing a son.

This will be one of the hardest articles that I have ever had to write, so please bear with me. I just spent about an hour researching what other parents have said in my situation. I received little comfort in knowing that others are feeling the pain that my family and I are currently enduring. This is not something you would want even your worst enemy to experience. August 24, 2019 our son Xavier William Patterson would have been 18 years old. By this day he would have changed his name to Xavier Patterson Elie. Our Young Elie. I say our son because even though I entered his life when he was just 7 years of age, I mothered him, giving him every ounce of my being since before he hit puberty. There were a lot of trials and tribulations, but at the end of it all I recognized and accepted that he needed me and I stepped up to the call for his need. What I am unsure of is if he knew how much I needed him too.

So us parents can find it hard to find time for one another when having little ones. Instead of holding your partner while in bed you are sleeping with a little co-creation foot in your mouth.
